What it can feel like

Lower back pain can feel like a dull ache, a tight band across the waist or a sharp catch when you bend or stand up. It often builds slowly, then flares after lifting, long sitting or a poor night’s sleep.

Common causes

  • Muscle strain after lifting or twisting

  • Stiff joints from long periods of sitting

  • Reduced core strength and movement variety

How we help

We start by finding which movements bring the pain on and which ease it. Care may include gentle spinal adjustments, soft tissue work and a short exercise plan so the back is better supported day to day.

When to seek urgent care

Most back and neck pain is not dangerous. Please seek urgent medical care, and do not wait for an appointment, if your pain follows a serious fall or accident, or comes with fever, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, sudden weakness in a leg or arm, chest pain or difficulty breathing.
