What it can feel like

Tension headaches often feel like a band around the head or pressure behind the eyes. Neck-related headaches usually start at the base of the skull and may spread to one side.

Common causes

  • Tight muscles in the neck and upper shoulders

  • Long periods of screen work

  • Poor sleep, stress and dehydration

How we help

We look for neck and shoulder tension that may be contributing, then use soft tissue therapy, gentle mobilisation and habit changes. Migraine care works best alongside your doctor, and we will share notes with them if you wish.

When to seek urgent care

Most back and neck pain is not dangerous. Please seek urgent medical care, and do not wait for an appointment, if your pain follows a serious fall or accident, or comes with fever, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, sudden weakness in a leg or arm, chest pain or difficulty breathing.
